 Dear family of God,

Where do you go for a QUIET place? Or, do you even want one? Some go to great lengths to pull it together to take a vacation. Then, they come back home where all the worries and cares have been waiting, as usual. I cannot afford a trip to anywhere right now. So, I am in search of QUIET within my own borders.

What I do know is, the best place is in the presence of Jesus. And, only He can turn those worries and cares completely away. With Him there is no reason to return to my heavy pack of troubles. I can many times make that choice in how I see them in the Light of His Word.

Before going to bed last night I read Psalm 34. The first four verses settled me down to sleep knowing I had a refuge in the Lord. "I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth...

My life makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble and afflicted hear and be glad...

Oh magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together...

I sought (inquired of) the Lord and required Him [of necessity and on the authority of His Word], and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." Amen!

Our QUIET comes as we submit all our cares to Him. Does it sound too simple? I have found it must be done step by step most times. So, not so easy, but...yes, the good thing to do.

You know how it is when a fussy baby calms in his mother's arms? I found Psalm 131:2 to be so true, especially during this season of trials. "Surely I have calmed and QUIETed my soul; like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me [ceased from fretting]."

This morning I looked up the word QUIET in my Thessaurus. In it I found words like...meek, passive, hushed, peaceful, calm, patient, quiescent, motionless, tranquil, gentle, undisturbed, mild, peace, silent. The direct opposite would be...disturbed, agitation, excitement, loud, disturbance, restless, noisy, boisterous, perturbed, noise.

Which ones are you feeling right now? After this last week, I certainly felt a few of those. Sort of a mix, depending on where I let my mind take me. The preferred of course are those that relate to QUIET.

Speaking of the mind. The scripture that always settles me back to that QUIET place is found in Isaiah 26:3, "You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You."

What a wonderful promise! If your day is going off in a different direction I implore you to lean all your weight on God and hope confidently in Him. Then you can take a deep breath and find your QUIET PLACE.

Verse 4 points us in the right direction everytime..."So trust in the Lord (commit yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages]."

If you feel like you have been treading water in the high seas, then you know how good it feels to have something solid to hold onto! His love for you never changes! His plans for you are never altered just because you are dealing with the troubles. His patience with you is constant. You will find in Him and only in Him perfect peace. QUIET for your soul.

Will you enter into His rest now? It is all up to you. A whole lot of what you imagine to happen, may never come. That is how fear and unbelief act. They are the mark of the enemy on your life. To be free, come to Jesus and confess your sins and lay down those burdens. Allow His Spirit in you to soothe away your anxiety. Then, lift up your hands to worship Him. The heaviness will go away in Jesus name.

Thank you for taking time out to gather with me here. This Heartstring place is always good to keep me tracking in the right direction. Sometimes I forget. Especially when something unexpected tries to overwhelm me, but I do know I can return to the QUIET and find rest for my soul. Although I am imperfect, I can be still and know that He Is God.

God bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you and bring you peace. That QUIET we all desire. Rest in His matchless love. In the name of Jesus, amen.

Abundance is...finding that QUIET place early
