 Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Bless you for returning to Heartstrings this morning! I pray you find rest for your soul and heart peace for the steps ahead of you today. That the words and thoughts that come to you will be pleasing to the Lord. That the battle you are in will come to end in victory soon.

With all the power outages across our nation and around the world we need to be prepared and have needful things in store. Water and food, but especially water. Even though I have heard all the survivalist prophecies and warnings. To be really be prepared, we need most of all our eternal power source. Trust in God Who is Light.

What do you do when your flashlight becomes dim? Run for the batteries, right? If your lamplight is low you add more oil to keep that wick burning. You may have sources like windpower or solar panels. Large batteries to help should the power go out.

Those are all the physical things I have heard of. But, I believe my One Source of power is given by God. His Word tells us so.

I love Psalm 18 because it tells me about the Lord's deliverance in the David's life. If it is good enough for him then, it is good enough for me!

Here it is in verse 28..."For You cause my lamp to be lighted and to shine; the Lord my God illumines my darkness." Take time to read the whole chapter. It is amazing!

If you need deliverance from darkness of any kind turn to the Lord Who is perfect, pure light. He will light your way. The path you are on today, He will direct as you step into the Light of His Word! God can do what He says He can do. Just believe it!

Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Because this is a short verse I have to be careful that I don't slide right past it. There is such depth here when I take the time to be still and listen to the heart of God.

The Lord offers us His Word. His Son is The Word. I may not be able to see a mile down the road or even a few feet into my future, but the path directly under my feet is lit by Truth. A solid truth that I rest my faith in. If I fix my eyes on the lighted way then I can't vere off course.

Matthew 25:8 Jesus tells us the parable truth about the five wise and the five foolish virgins preparing for the call of the bridegroom. Some are anticipating the call to come away, but others are being lazy saying, oh I think it's time for a nap. Yawn. Wake me when you hear.

"And the foolish said to the wise, Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out." In the last days there will be those who try to take the easy way, draining you of the precious oil you need for your own lamp. That is why it is a good idea to ask God for wisdom with every decision you have to make.

Whether you are camping in the woods with a flashlight or the power goes out in your town...we need to be prepared. If you are feeling powerless, drained and wonder why you just can't seem to hear the Lord...prepare yourself in the light of God's Word. Do not be caught in a spiritual outage!

While the foolish are running around trying to buy oil for their lamps, the bridegroom comes and those who were prepared went in with him to the marriage feast; and the door was shut. Wow! These words should be a shout in your ear to pay attention. We are given warning. And, God doesn't want anyone to perish, but the door Will be shut at some point in the near future.

Does this trouble you? Good. There is still time to get prepared. As we hear more and more about the trouble our world is in we should be on our knees praying for mercy. At every opportunity we need to be the Light and Salt the world craves. Begin with Jesus.

I am praying for you and for myself. As the Holy Spirit calls us, let us follow hard after Him. God bless you as you fill your lamp with precious oil. Precious oil for precious people loved by God. In the matchless name of Jesus, amen.

   Abundance is...a lighted pathway
