Dearly beloved,
What banner is over your life today? As I am thinking about Flag Day here in America, my heart is so appreciative to God for our freedoms. I love flags! There are banners in the Word of God that I love too, so today, we will take time to look at the promises of God that wave over our lives like His Banner of love. I have found myself drawn to the scriptures daily for direction, inspiration, comfort and yes, even accept the discipline to walk the straight and narrow. To be in the world but not of the world. To look, act and think different from what I was before. I praise the Lord for the power of His Spirit to make, break and complete us in Christ.
Ephesians 3:16-21 is just one of the places where we will find wonderful promises from God. I personally want to apply this to my heart to such a degree that I continually sense His Banner of Love over me. "May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself in dwelling your innermost being and personality]." Do you know that God has a treasure house for you? As His child, becoming His bride we get to freely enter His presence and take hold of every treasure in His Love letter, our Bible. Because we are chosen by the Father, redeemed by the Son and sealed by the Holy Spirit. Read Ephesians chapter one!
His heart is that we find our strength in Him. That the power of the Holy Spirit is active in our entire being and personality. Mighty Power! Not just a sprinkle of His Grace. Not just a drop of Living Water. But, all of what God has for us. Wow! This is so incredible, I want to fall on my knees. Instead of me saying, 'Well, I really don't have that gift to be used by God' is like saying we never believed we are His. We must be fully His! If you are doubting, James says, "you will be tossed to and fro like a ship on the sea." Are you finding yourself wavering in your faith? Then, let's read on.
Here it is in verse 17..."May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love," This is what you do to gain those treasures God wants you to have by the Holy Spirit living in you. But, as you may have noticed, God IS patient. He is a gentleman and will wait at the door of your heart ready to enter when you open that door. Better not waste time though! See, the Bridegroom is coming and He comes for a READY Bride. The way to be rooted deep in love is to lean into His love. We need to spend time getting to know the Lord. Practice His presence everyday!
I think we should stop here and take in these wonderful words of life. I don't want to rush too quickly. Let's pray. Father in heaven thank you for the promises we find in Your Word today. If there is anyone needy of You call them to come. Believers who have gone lacking in their walk due to doubt, help them to desire to return and abide in the shadow of Your love. We can't fix ourselves, so we praise You today for giving us Your Holy Spirit to dwell in us and make us more and more like Your Son. Thank you for all who would seek Your face. Raise up the banner of Your love over Your children today. In the mighty matchless name of Jesus, amen. Have a blessed day treasure hunting in His Word!
